From A to Zambezi: Why You Need to See Mozambique

Mozambique may be the beach holiday you’ve been waiting for and didn’t know existed. Imagine a country with 1,500 miles of unspoiled coastline, crystal-clear waters and white, soft sandy beaches. Not only beaches, but wildlife too – drawn to the lower Zambezi River, one of  the most biologically diverse floodplains in Africa.

Safari, Gorongosa National Park

Africa’s largest protected marine area is found just off the country’s northern coast where you’ll discover the Quirimbas archipelago. Here 32 islands stretch right up to Tanzania -- the diving and snorkeling amongst these lesser-known coral reefs is enchanting. But further south, and perhaps easier to reach for visitors, are five stunning islands in the Bazaruto archipelago where luxury resorts cater to high-end beach escapes. Benguerra Island, the largest, is a haven of tranquility and adventure in the midst of another marine reserve.

Consider Kisawa, on Benguerra's southern tip, as an exquisite example of adventurous luxury found in Mozambique. Kisawa’s 22 bespoke thatched villas blend impeccably into the nature that surrounds the resort, with several restaurants on-site, a spa (jet-lag relieving massage included) and non-motorized watersports when it’s time to get active. Families will be enchanted by the incredible sea shells to be found, while romantics should book a sunset sailing in a wooden dhow, holding hands while the ocean breezes swell the sail and your heart.

Mozambique is a former Portuguese colony (it gained independence in 1975), and Portuguese is the official language, though English is common as is Makhuwa, the main Bantu language. Keen to kickstart tourism, Mozambique allows visitors from the United States and Canada visa free access for 30 days, and perhaps the best time to visit is during the June to October dry season. Make sure to bring some cash, U.S. dollars and South African rand are accepted.

Exploring Mozambique and indulging in its fantastic beach resorts is a complete holiday experience in itself. However, this destination also seamlessly combines with a safari adventure, making it an ideal addition to your itinerary. After all, if you're already on the continent, why not explore more of its wonders? Effective planning is crucial to ensure you secure the perfect resorts at the ideal times, allowing your journey to flow seamlessly and ensuring a smooth and memorable experience.

Rediscovering Türkiye

Istanbul and the coastal towns of Bodrum and Antalya (famous for beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters) are waiting. It’s time to go back to Türkiye, a country rich in culture, adventure and natural beauty.

The February earthquake that ravaged the southeastern region is not close to many travelers' must-see destinations. More importantly, your tourism dollars help to rebuild the economy. Since tourism is such a large employer, employees will put your tips and excursion fees to good use, as many who live in the affected regions have left to find work in tourist centers. And there is so much to see in Türkiye!

Golden Horn Bay, Istanbul  |  Kaputas Beach, Antalya

Most travelers have already heard about the bucket-list beauty of a Cappadocia balloon ride as it soars over the area’s “fairy chimneys.” After a day of exploring the ancient underground cities cut into the landscape’s soft rock below, stepping into a balloon basket to see the sun rise far above this UNESCO region is something no traveler soon forgets. Now is the time to book that unforgettable lifetime moment.

Another one of those mind-blowing moments might be watching the dance-like worship practiced by the Mevlevilik Sufi order: the Whirling dervishes. The spellbinding movements are also recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s important and intangible human history.

History buffs should make their way along the Mediterranean coast to the hilltop Simena Castle, or Kalekoy. Wander up through the town that’s built itself around the ruin, built in the Byzantine style on top of a foundation from the Lycian era. The views and fascinating small city built around it are worth adding to your itinerary.

The Turkish bath is another must-do – beloved by locals, hammams are found all over the country. It’s a traditional foam massage and a scrub like no other. Once you arrive with your towel, let locals show you the right protocols for a truly immersive experience into their culture.

Kalekoy, Antalya  |  Travertine Pools and Terraces in Pamukkale

And if you love a good spa, how about a mineral soak in pools believed to have been enjoyed by Cleopatra herself? The white limestone cliffs and sparkling mineral pools of Pamukkale have been popular since ancient times. The brilliantly white healing waters are found in Türkiye’s Inner Aegean region, in the River Menderes valley.

It's time to start planning and book ahead to take advantage of the dollar’s strength against the Turkish lira. The Grand Bazaar of Istanbul is waiting.

New memories await you in Türkiye. Let's design your ideal vacation!

Smart Travel Starts Now

As travel advisors, we've witnessed the tremendous benefits of smart travelers who planned their summer adventures well in advance. These savvy individuals had their plans locked down for months, and in some cases, even years ahead. Now, in the midst of this post-pandemic travel boom, their strategic approach has truly paid off. It has become abundantly clear that those who made the effort to plan ahead are now reaping the rewards, confidently embarking on their summer journeys while others who were less prepared now hesitate to tread the same path.

We're already reporting record high air fares over the next few months. In Europe, for example, most accommodation prices have skyrocketed – in hot spots such as Rome, popular hotels have more than doubled their rates, some even demand a seven-night minimum stay. Happily, though, clients who locked in months ago secured those same hotels at much more reasonable rates.

Give us a call soon! There’s lots of time to get ready for next summer and it’s essential to get in touch and discuss fall season itineraries and dates to get your must-see destinations confirmed. As your dedicated travel advisors, we hold the key to ensuring you secure the locations and accommodations you desire at prices that align with your budget. Don't miss out on the opportunity to plan your dream trip—reach out to us and let's make it a reality!
